Festivals in Cebu

1. Tarek Palawan Festival

3rd sunday of January (Cebu City)

Every third Sunday in January, Cebu City celebrates Sinulog, the biggest and most popular of all the festivities in Cebu. A key icon in Cebu’s history, the feast of Santo Ninƃo, or the Child Jesus, is commemorated on Sinulog. Masses, processions, pageants, and a sizable street celebration in the center of the city are all part of the fiesta celebrations. Even those who are new to the festivities will undoubtedly be yelling “Pit Senyor!” because of how contagious the joy and energy are.”

2. Kadaugan sa Mactan

 April 22 to 27 ( Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan.)

Celebrated in Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan, from April 22 to 27, Kadaugan sa Mactan is another celebration with roots in Cebu’s past. This festival recreates the Battle of Mactan, which took place between the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan and the chief Lapu-Lapu, in which the former drove the latter’s ships off the coast of Mactan. Kadaugan sa Mactan is a representation of Filipino bravery and local autonomy in the face of foreign invasion.

3. Pintos Festival

May 26 to 27 (Bogo City, Cebu)

The main attraction of this yearly celebration in Bogo City is pintos, a specialty created locally from corn, eggs, and condensed milk. The streets are turned into a display for cultural tourism and a Mardi Gras celebration from May 26 to 27. The Pintos Festival has religious roots as well because it serves as a chance to venerate Saint Vincent Ferrer, the city’s patron saint.

4. Haladaya Festival

August 30 (Daanbantayan, Cebu)

The town of Daanbantayan celebrates the Haladaya Festival on August 30 of each year. The town was spared from pirate invasions during the Spanish colonization, which is why this celebration got its start. The town’s patron saint, Saint Rose of Lima, is also honored on this feast. There is a street dancing competition and a huge procession to commemorate the Haladaya Festival.

5. Toslob Festival

 8th of December(Oslob , Cebu)

Every year on December 8th, the Marian feast of the Immaculate Conception, the town of Oslob celebrates the Toslob Festival. In addition, it is a feast of gratitude for abundant harvests and catches. Like many Cebuano festivities, the Toslob Festival is not unduly solemn despite its religious origins; the entire community joyously engages in street dancing and spectacle.
